Following the agreement, Wagenborg added, as of June, a second weekly sailing to the Piteå-Bremen-Sheerness-Terneuzen-Cuxhaven-Södertälje ro-ro service.
Wagenborg Shipping Sweden will act as Holmen Paper's commercial partner taking care of sales and booking activities. As a result of this cooperation, Wagenborg has been able to set up its own agency as well as a booking office in Terneuzen under the control of Wagenborg Agencies.
"With only one sailing per week we were not attractive for transport companies to ship trailers, but this second sailing will be a true game changer in how goods can be transported to Stockholm. Today, many of the unaccompanied trailers enter Sweden via Gothenburg and are then trucked to Stockholm. Being able to arrive in Södertälje, the road distance is shortened with at least 250 kilometres," David von Platen, Line Manager, Wagenborg Shipping Sweden, commented.
Thomas Samson, Logistics Development and Purchasing Manager, Holmen Paper, added to this, "It's a win-win situation. We provide space on our vessels, and Wagenborg takes care of sales and bookings of deliveries back to Sweden. This is a great example of how we can create synergies, especially for the environment if we can cut at least 250 kilometres of road transports."
