Out of the total, maritime shipping amounted to 63.5mt (-11.2% year-on-year), while inland navigation added the remaining 54.8mt (-6.3% yoy).
Regarding the former, the handling of dry bulk totalled 32.5mt (-6% yoy), followed by liquid bulk - 16.2mt (-19.3% yoy), break-bulk - 9.3mt (-15% yoy), wheeled (ro-ro) cargo - 2.7mt (-16.8% yoy), and containerised freight - 2.7mt (+4.3% yoy; an estimated 344k TEUs).
Maritime imports accounted for 70.5% of its traffic, exports - 29.5%. On the inland navigation side the split was 56% export and 44% import.
The North Sea Port comprises the Dutch Zeeland Seaports (Vlissingen and Terneuzen) and the Flemish/Belgian Port of Ghent.
