YSA Design, an Oslo-based company specialising in architecture and interiors, is continuing its 2002-established co-op with Holland America Line.
A total of 2,500 artworks made by 160 artists has been brought on-board the company's latest cruiser, Nieuw Statendam.
"[…] ship interiors can be transformed by the introduction of often dramatic and sometimes playful contemporary art, creating talking points that can also be useful locators for those on board," YSA Design explained in a press release.
As such, Nieuw Statendam has been turned into one big art gallery, including the three stair-high towers, showcasing photographs, paintings, and sculptures.
Naturally, all curated art - even the iconic Michelangelo statue of David, in this particular translucent incarnation holding a mobile phone - had to meet the maritime safety rules!
