Though marked with the military Three Crowns as well as manned and operated by the Swedish Airforce, the flying ambulance Junkers W34 was bought and owned by non-governmental associations to serve the remote communities scattered along the Swedish Baltic coast.
The depicted plane, along with three others of the same class, was delivered in the mid-1930s by AB Flygindustri from Limhamn.
They carried out their Samaritan duties till the late 1940s, sadly losing one of the crew in an accident in 1938.
The concluding aircraft from the team, and in fact the last ever made by AB Flygindustri (imprinted "6"), is preserved in a museum that bears a name air travellers should recognise in an instant - Arlanda (Flygsamlingar).
