Small-scale LNG tanks arrive in Klaipeda

Klaipedos nafta, the operator of Port of Klaipeda's large-scale Liquefied Natural Gas terminal, has received the first three tanks for its currently under construction reloading station.

The 1,000 m3 of capacity, 50.3 m long, 6.03 m wide, and 5.8 m high HT1000 cryogenic storage tanks, each weighing 223 tn, were manufactured by the Czech Chart Ferox. The tanks were afterwards put on a barge and transported down the River Elbe to the Port of Hamburg, where they were loaded onto a freighter, landing two days later in Klaipeda port.

Once commissioned, most probably in late summer, Klaipedos nafta's LNG reloading station will feature five such tanks, providing a total capacity of 5.0 mln litres of LNG, to be gas-filled from the company's nearby floating terminal in order to provide small-scale operations for LNG tank trucks and vessels.

There are also plans to double the station's capacity in the future up to 10,000 m3.
