Hupac Intermodal: 737,311 road consignments transported via rail in 2016 (+11.5% yoy)

The company's transalpine route via Switzerland proved to be the strongest trade lane last year, noting an increase by 19.4% year-on-year to a total of 450,862 road shipments by rail.

Non-transalpine routes, incl. those Baltic-linked, came in second with 245,496 road consignments carried on rails, noting an increase by 1.5% yoy.

On the other hand, transalpine lanes via Austria and France contracted in 2016, by 2.4% yoy to 37,690, and by 5.9% yoy to 3,263 road shipments by rail, respectively.
