APATEQ has installed its scrubber water treatment plant at Scandlines' harbour in the Danish Gedser, where the company's two new ferries dock on their way to and from Rostock.

The MarinePaq installation is fitted into two containers, where in a five-step process the scrubber water is cleaned (i.a. of heavy metals, nitrite, and sulphites, while chemical oxygen demand is being reduced as well) to a degree that it can be discharged into the port's waters.

By having its own plant, Scandlines has cut the disposal costs for hauling scrubber water to the nearest industrial wastewater treatment facility, as well as is not dependent on the availability of external water disposal providers.
