World's first ARC-7 class Arctic LNG tanker christened

The ceremony of naming Sovcomflot's Christophe de Margerie was held at the Port of Bronka on June 3rd.

The company's flagship, the first in a line of 15 similar vessels, is designed for year-round transports of liquid gas as part of the Yamal LNG project.

The vessel has already passed ice testing in March, and has made its first arrival at the Russian Port of Sabetta, which serves the Yamal LNG plant.

The 299 m long, 50 m wide, and 26.5 m deep vessel can take 173.6 thou. m3 of cargo, sailing independently through ice up to 2.1 m thick.
