The London-headquartered freight forwarder has made it to our pages several times, specifically into the Made in China news section as the company has organised its own multimodal services linking the UK with China.
The company was set up in April 1870 by Alfred Davies in partnership with his colleague, Turner (and with the financial support of Alfred's father-in-law).
The main rationale behind launching the company was Alfred's observation that small-to-medium consignment shippers are growing tired of shipping lines' high minimum charges.
As such, Alfred offered them with a groupage service, consolidating small shipments from different customers under one bill of landing.
Adding splendour to its anniversary, at the beginning of 2020, the company won the European Logistics category during the British International Freight Association's (BIFA) Freight Service Awards. Well done!
