Export traffic totalled 2.32mt (-5.7% year-on-year), import 2.14mt (-7.8% yoy), and cabotage 32.7kt (-22.7% yoy).
Out of the total, unitized cargo amounted to 3.69mt (-6.8% yoy), including 2.40mt of wheeled (ro-ro & ferry) cargo (-5.7% yoy) and 1.30mt of containerised freight (-8.6% yoy).
Handling of dry bulk added 542.3kt (+3.4% yoy), while that of break-bulk another 211.1kt (-15.9% yoy).
A total of 196,796 trucks & trailers (+1% yoy) was taken care of, in addition to 167,169 TEUs (-6.2% yoy).
Because of anti-COVID-19 border lockdowns, Helsinki's passenger traffic noted a substantial hit - 39.3% fewer people (1,857,323 in total) went on a ferry trip than in the corresponding period of 2019. Subsequently, the number of pax cars carried on-board ferries dropped as well, by 35% yoy to altogether 270,046 vehicles.
The cruise season, for the time being, has been put on halt (last year 7,698 cruise passengers went through Helsinki's quays by end-April).
