The Swedish seaport's container rail traffic amounted to 121k TEUs, an increase of 1.7% on the result from Q1 2020.

The port's wheeled freight traffic rose, too. A total of 141k ro-ro cargo units were handled (+2.2% year-on-year), plus some 73k new vehicles (+9% yoy).

At the same time, the coronavirus pandemic continues to take its toll on the port's passenger traffic. A total of 67k ferry travellers went through Gothenburg's quays in Q1 2021, a decrease of 71% yoy.

The turnover of liquid bulk also contracted - by 12.3% yoy down to 5.0mt.
