The Latvian seaport rebounded from its record-low result of 2021 (since 1991) thanks to, among others, a new all-time high in wheeled cargo (ro-ro) traffic of 2.35mt (+3.7% year-on-year).
General cargo, on the whole, advanced by 7.2% yoy to 2.83mt. The turnover of liquid and dry bulk goods also rose: by 13% yoy to 6.77mt and 110% yoy to 5.14mt, respectively.
Dry bulk handling was propelled by coal, totalling 2.6mt (+420% yoy), which resulted from attracting Kazakh coal flows as of 2021's end.
