According to the 2017 World LNG Report, authored by the International Gas Union (IGU), 2016 was the third consecutive year in which the global trade of liquefied natural gas (LNG) hit a new record.
A total of 258mt was shipped around the world, 13.1mt more than in 2015 (+5% year-on-year) - the highest rate of growth since 2011.
At the same time, however, the market still cannot match supply with demand, the former outpacing the latter by a few lengths.
Then again, one still gets the impression that while currently in a state of calibrating itself, the industry firmly believes that the future will be powered by gas.
