The Turku-headquartered Elomatic is reaching the next phase in the design of a Canadian Polar icebreaker, which is set to be built by 2030.
The project was initiated in early 2021 by the Canadian Government as a replacement for the 1969-commissioned/2000-refitted CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent, Canada's current largest (gross tonnage of 11,345) and strongest (five 5,880kW engines) heavy icebreaker.
