The overall drop was chiefly caused by the 41.8% year-on-year decrease in coal handling, down from 13.4 to 7.8 million tonnes.
Liquid bulk, Gdańsk's prime trade, was up 5.1% on the 2023 result, totalling 39.5mt.
With 23.4mt (+1.3% yoy), general cargo came in second, including 20.7mt of containerised freight (+1.0% yoy).
The Port of Gdańsk also handled 2.9mt of grains (-6.5% yoy) as well as 3.7mt of other dry bulk goods (-2.6% yoy).
Container traffic advanced by 9.7% yoy to 2,249 thousand TEUs.
The Polish seaport also saw more ro-ro cargo units, up 3.7% yoy to 139k, likewise passengers - an increase of 4.5% yoy to 166.2k ferry & cruise travellers.
