As the 2030 FuelEU Maritime deadline looms, pressure is mounting for Europe's ports to deliver viable shore power solutions that can serve a growing global fleet.

The Regulation requires container ships and passenger vessels with a gross tonnage (GT) of over 5,000 to connect to shore-side electricity while at berth in Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) ports.

It is a positive step for progressing decarbonization, but meeting the requirements of this mandate could be easier said than done.
