It may seem ironic that in an era of nuclear power, autonomous electric vessels, and emerging hydrogen technologies, the shipping industry is once again looking to the wind.

Yet, there is nothing surprising in this return to sails. The sea has a long memory, and shipowners have never forgotten the allure of free, inexhaustible energy.
