Forest products, the prime trade taken care of by the port authority managing Halmstad and Varberg, advanced by 7.9% year-on-year over 2025's first half to 836 thousand tonnes.
The Swedish seaports also handled 304kt of dry bulk goods (+3.1% yoy), 250kt of wheeled (ferry) cargo (+2.5% yoy), 220kt of iron & steel products (incl. scrap; +21.5% yoy), 199kt of liquid bulk (-11.6% yoy), 160kt of containerised freight (-12.6% yoy), 49kt in automotive (-7.5% yoy), and 2.0kt of goods classified as 'others' (break-bulk; -77.8% yoy).
Halland's container traffic totted up to 20,316 TEUs (-0.1% yoy), while ro-ro to 14,369 trucks & trailers (-11.5% yoy).
The finished vehicle logistics sector saw 26,798 cars (-9.0% yoy) passing over Halland's quays.
There were also fewer passengers on the Halmstad-Grenna ferry crossing, down 3.0% yoy to 34,116 travellers. The number of private vehicles transported on the route also contracted, by 24.6% yoy to 6,865.
