Measured in tonnes, the Finnish capital seaport took care of 2.8 million tonnes of containerised freight over 2025's first three quarters, up 9.0% year-on-year.
Ro-ro traffic, on the other hand, contracted by 5.8% yoy to 482,762 trucks & trailers, and by 5.9% yoy to 6.33mt of wheeled (ferry & ro-ro) cargo.
Helsinki also handled 617.5 thousand tonnes of dry bulk goods (-26.1% yoy) and 332.2kt of break-bulk (-20.4% yoy). Overall, the port made 10.03mt in international traffic (-3.8% yoy), plus 137.8kt in cabotage (-26.8% yoy). Helsinki's total January-September 2025 cargo result hit 10.17mt (-4.3% yoy).
At the same time, the Port of Helsinki served almost 7.3 million ferry passengers (+1.0% yoy), of which the crossing to/from Tallinn saw 5.8m (+0.4% yoy), Stockholm - 1.29m (+2.6% yoy), Travemünde - 138k (-2.2% yoy), Mariehamn - 27.9k (-1.6% yoy). Travellers classified as 'others' added the remaining 42.6k (+65.7% yoy). Then again, ferries serving Helsinki brought fewer passenger vehicles, down 2.1% yoy to 1.1m.
Helsinki's cruise traffic also advanced - by 16.6% yoy to 146,559 guests.
