The Royal Caribbean Group has entrusted the Finnish shipbuilders with delivering two more Icon Class cruise ships.
The newbuilds are expected to set sail in the summers of 2029 and 2030, respectively (the Icon 7 order is subject to customary conditions, including financing).
"The Icon Class reflects our bold creativity and engineering excellence that continues to define what a vacation can be. Through our long-standing partnership with Meyer Turku, the Finnish government, and the strong Finnish maritime cluster, we are reimagining the industry for decades to come while also delivering meaningful economic impact for Finland," commented Jason Liberty, the Royal Caribbean Group's Chairman and CEO.
Meyer Turku's CEO, Casimir Lindholm, also shared, "The orders for the sixth and seventh Icon Class vessels are a significant recognition of Meyer Turku and the Finnish maritime industry's talent and expertise. This milestone represents an important step forward in our partnership with the Royal Caribbean Group to develop the shipbuilding sector over the next decade and beyond."
The first in the series, Icon of the Seas (gross tonnage of 248,663), was delivered in January 2024, followed by Star of the Seas in August 2025. Legend of the Seas will debut in June this year, with Hero of the Seas entering service in 2027.
