Another jubilee was celebrated in Poland and Sweden last year. On June 20th, 1967, Polsteam's ro-pax Gryf made her maiden voyage across the Baltic, between the ports of Świnoujście and Ystad.
More than 48,000 passengers used this crossing over its first 12 months. To commemorate this event, representatives from both countries met in Ystad, planting a hornbeam (carpinus betulus) in front of the ferry terminal.
"The growing traffic benefits both Poland and Sweden and unites our countries, both economically and culturally," Björn Boström, Port of Ystad's CEO, said during the ceremony.
The Świnoujście-Ystad link is currently served by six Polferries and Unity Line ro-paxes, which in 2016 carried 712,000 passengers as well as 220,000 cargo units.
Best of luck!
