We're continuing our search for innovative uses of a shipping container. This time we're attracting your attention to the Solar Powered Internet Schools (SPIS) project launched back in 2014 by Samsung Electronics through the Hope for Children initiative.

The classroom is fitted into a 40-foot box and equipped with 25 laptops, a multipurpose printer, a server, air conditioning, Internet access, a 50-inch e-board, and of course - solar panels to power the whole thing.

The pilot project saw the setup of SPIS in six African countries. The Korean Education and Research Information Service, one of the project partners, trained two teachers not only to manage and operate the facility but also to train other teachers as well as students, who then could cascade their knowledge onto others, and so forth.

Oh, if anybody wondered, yes, students could play games on the computers.
