In Spring of 2018, the Bowspirit Kids Group was founded in Lübeck. The charity wants to help sick and traumatised children and teenagers deal with the foul life has played on them.
To that end Bowspirit Kids intend to buy a ferry and convert it into a "floating playroom," with which, in addition, the NGO could go abroad, showcasing the idea and initiating further projects that could help the so-called "shadow children" recover and "[…] start into a hopefully healthy future."
Michael Speckenbach, the initiative's founder, said, "Our young guests, some of whom have simply gone through hell, should experience something very special on board... They should live again. We want to give the missing childhood back to them a bit and strengthen their backs so that they self-confidently leave our ship […]."
Companies can aid Bowspirit Kids through, e.g., the "12 times 12" scheme, supporting the charity for 12 months with a freely chosen "12" from their business activities, such as 12 cents for every euro-pallet moved by a forwarding company.
