The past year brought about a number of developments across the Russian seaborne transport market, most notably in relation to shipping across the Northern Sea Route (NSR) and exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the country's fields in the Arctic.
The year 2018 also witnessed changes within the transport-related governmental hierarchy, saw a few amendments to maritime legislation, and surfaced some unexpected events, like the criminal case raised against two co-owners of Summa, a group that holds assets in such important market players as the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port, TransContainer, and FESCO.
