Looking ahead into what the future holds for ports is, in many respects, a challenging task, given the rapid pace of evolution in our society.
A complex mixture of geopolitical changes, commercial strategies, digitization, and automation, along with the push for a dramatic reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and a swift energy transition will shape the future of the sector.
To help ports prepare for that future, the International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) established its World Ports Sustainability Program (WPSP) almost exactly one year ago, an initiative that has already borne fruit all around the globe.
