Both the handlings of liquids and general cargo went down over 2018's first half - by 8.3% year-on-year and 13.2% yoy to 30.11mt and 13.86mt, respectively.
The country's ports located in the Baltic Sea made 122.6mt in the reported period, a downtick of 1.6% year-on-year, and the only decrease throughout Russia's port network.
Exports rose by 3.6% on the Q1 2017 result up to 1.73mt, imports declined by 10.4% year-on-year to 664.9kt, while domestic traffic advanced by 142% yoy to 36.6kt.
The small uptick in total freight turnover was driven by increased handlings of ro-ro traffic (+11.1% year-on-year to 1.32mt) and dry bulk (+8.3% yoy to 850.9kt).
The biggest Baltic seaport, in terms of handled tonnage, saw a decline in its throughput of both liquids (-6.9% year-on-year to 25.50mt) and general cargo (-13.9% yoy to 1.20mt).
With almost 3.23mt, exports advanced the most (+16.1% year-on-year) in the reported period, followed by 3.13mt of imports (+7.1% yoy), and 81.8kt made in coastal traffic (+2.6% yoy).
