The Finnish Nurminen Logistics has set up an export on-demand rail service for the also Finnish Versowood, the country's biggest producer of sawn timber.

The first train set, comprising 41 containers, has left Kotka and will arrive in Chongqing after three weeks.

"We use the train when we want to reach the inland customer base in China because by train we get directly to the destination, and the total transportation time is significantly reduced," Sami Heikkinen, Logistics Manager, Versowood, commented.
