The Port of Aalborg and APM Terminals have joined forces to connect the former with the latter's container facility in the also Danish Port of Aarhus via a weekly rail service.
"The new rail service expands the logistics options available to businesses in Northern Jutland. Going forward, they can use both the direct feeder service to Hamburg and the direct rail connection to Denmark's largest container port in Aarhus and the international transport networks linked to it," the parties said in a press briefing.
Michael Rosenkilde Lind, Sales Manager at the Port of Aalborg, also commented, "We are very pleased to see freight trains return to the port. Businesses in Northern Jutland compete in a global market, which makes access to efficient transport solutions essential. The new rail service gives businesses more options when moving goods into and out of the region, while strengthening the link between Northern Jutland and international supply chains."
"There is significant potential in improving access between Northern Jutland and international container connections via Aarhus. With the opening of our Inland Hub Northen Jutland and the new rail connection to Aalborg, customers are brought closer to global supply chains through a solution that supports both efficient transport and the development of intermodal transport solutions," added Helle Almind, Head of Commercial at APM Terminals Aarhus.
