The 5G Momentum project group, an organisation that recognizes Finnish innovators in the field of the next generation wireless technology for digital cellular networks, has chosen the Port Oulu Smarter digitalisation project as the winner.

Working with a range of partners, the Port of Oulu develops, tests, and utilises some of the world's first 5G solutions for industrial and logistics applications. The project sees a versatile digital infrastructure built across the port, which aims to benefit all involved stakeholders.

"The Port Oulu Smarter project stood out due to its innovative excellence, potential applications, and scalability," a press release from Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom), one of 5G Momentum members, read.

The jury also comprised, apart from Traficom, the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency, the Finnish Meteorological Institute, and a representative of the country's Ministry of Transport and Communications.
