The Aachen-based company, specialising in Artificial Intelligence and decision-making optimization software, has launched its very own Business Book Club - specifically targeted at port and terminal managers - in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
INFORM's initiative kicked off at the beginning of April and anyone can join it by heading to www.inform-software.com/logistics/container-terminals/business-book-club.
The first book on the shelf - available print or digital, courtesy of INFORM - is Life 3.0: Being Human in the Age of Artificial Intelligence by Max Tergmark, a read that "inspired multiple technical papers including: Demystifying AI, Humans and Technology, Machine Learning in Terminal Operations and [our] award winning 2038: A Smart Port Story," the company said in a press release.
Participants are encouraged to get through the books before a digital meet-up on the last Tuesday of each month. The first discussion is set to take place on 28 April at 5pm CET.
"The Business Book Club has been on the cards for several months, but we've decided to pull it forward in response to COVID-19, offering those who are stuck at home a more enriching alternative to binging TV," Dr. Eva Savelsberg, SVP, INFORM's Logistic Division, said.
To this Matthew Wittemeier, Marketing Manager, INFORM's Logistic Division, added, "Most of us are finding ourselves in a new, isolated environment and instead of turning to the TV, we want to encourage people to start an enriching new habit within their confinement at home."
