As a result of the Estonia parliament's passing of the Supplementary Budget Act, vessels entering the country's ports and roadsteads will be exempted from the payment of fairway dues - till 31 March 2021.
In addition, all fairway dues which have already been paid since 1 April will be reimbursed by the Estonian Maritime Administration within 30 days.
The Act also foresees the maximum fairway dues applicable to passenger vessels in the 1 April 2020-31 December 2021 period - a maximum of 45 times for entries made, instead of the up to now legislative highest of 60. For cruise ships, the maximum is set at three, while for other ship types at eight times.
To move is aimed at stimulating trade against the backdrop of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the negative economic consequences it has brought about.
