The Danish shipping and logistics company has acquired 100% of the share capital of the Rotterdam-based Alphatrans Group.
Alphatrans deals with the transportation of general and project cargo with the use of flatbed trailers (the company's fleet comprises 720 units, incl. low loaders, mega, and extendable ones), trucks (125), and other specialised equipment. The company links the UK and Ireland with continental Europe, incl. the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Portugal, Hungary, and Romania.
The transaction is subject to approval by the German competition authority. The closing is expected to take place by 2017's end, after which Alphatrans will be consolidated into the DFDS Group.
Since some time now, DFDS has been developing traffic which specifically requires flatbed trailers, particularly between Sweden and the Baltics.
