Cargo operations across the 7 km-long electrified rail stretch, which directly connects the Port of Norrköping to Sweden's Southern Trunk Line, was officially inaugurated on 1 February.

A freight yard will be set up along the Kardon Railway and a nearby road in the future, halfway between the Port of Norrköping and Åby.

The Swedish Transport Administration will continue to work on upgrading Norrköping's rail network, including the addition of the southern link to the port by summer 2021.
