A total of 45,000 m3 of sawn timber has been shipped from the Swedish Port of Umeå to Alexandria in Egypt on board African Piper.
The Kvarken Ports, apart from Umeå also comprising the Finnish Vaasa, noted last year an increase by 20% on the result from 2016 when it comes to sawn timber exports. Among others, the growth was propelled by increased demand coming from North African markets.
The port authority expects to send out even more sawn timber this and in the coming years.
