The new machinery, offering 154t of lifting capacity and a maximum outreach of 54 m, will be shipped fully-assembled from Liebherr's plant in the Port of Rostock in March.
The new LHM 550 will be deployed at the Haugesund Cargo Terminal in the Norwegian Husøy. It will be equipped for handling containers, bulk goods, and project cargo.
The new crane will join an identical one already working for the Port of Karmsund. In tandem lift, the two will be able to pull 308t up.
Alike its older counterpart, the new LHM 550 will run on electricity.
"We have been very satisfied with our LHM 550, and with our collaboration with Liebherr. We have had far higher activity on the first crane than expected. Investing in a second LHM 550 after only two years of operation with the first one, says a lot about the development at the terminal, and also about the expectations for further growth," Tore Gautesen, Director, the Port of Karmsund, said.
