The company has opted for three ship-to-shore (STS) gantries of 30.48 m span, 22.9 m back- and 69.5 m outreach, and 53.34 m of lift height over rail.
Joining Maher Terminals' fleet of eight Liebherr STSes at the Port of New York & New Jersey, the new equipment will help the company become net zero-emission by 2040.
The machinery will be manufactured using high tensile steel and feature a lattice main beam and boom, making the construction lightweight so that less energy will be needed to operate it.
The crane drives will include an active front end, which returns electricity to the grid.
The Liebherr Liduro drive systems will optimise energy requirements and power management.
LED floodlights, reducing energy consumption by 70% over traditional fixtures, will also be designed to minimise glare and light pollution.
