OnRail, a recent entrant onto the Norwegian rail freight market, has set up the 1,200 km-long link between Fauske and Oslo.
The new service chiefly targets the country's fish exports.
Meanwhile, the company has ordered two Stradler EURODUAL hybrid (electric-diesel) locomotives, set for delivery in November 2022.
OnRail has already been running its Åndalsnes-Oslo service, which, according to the company, takes some 10k trucks off Norway's roads.
