Vessel schedule information offered by Fintraffic, an agenda that controls and manages Finland's land, air and sea traffic, will become available via VRT Finland's GISGRO platform.
The partnership aims at easing information sharing by combining port asset information with vessel schedule data through one source.
"Our clients prefer the information needed in port operations being available in one platform. [...] We can integrate information from different data sources into GISGRO, such as databases and weather stations, to create a comprehensive georeferenced situation map for the port. Vessel schedules bring in one important piece of the puzzle," Kirsi Hänninen, CEO, VRT Finland, explained.
Olli Soininen, Program Manager, Fintraffic, also said, "The arrival and departure of a ship determine the tasks and schedules of many people in a port. Up-to-date vessel schedule data enables more efficient operations, shortening the waiting time of different actors working on port calls. Efficiency saves both money and environment, which is the reason many ports are utilizing our services via Fintraffic APIs or Port Activity App."
He furthered, "By integrating Fintraffic's schedule data into GISGRO via APIs the clients of VRT Finland as well as other ports receive the data easily, improving the effectivity of the service in both Finnish and international scale."
