The Omani greenfield port project will receive in late 2022 four ship-to-shore (STS) and 12 rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes.

The STSes will provide an out-reach of 71 m, a back-reach of 18 m, an over-rail lift height of 50 m, and 65t of safe working load under a twin-lift spreader.

The RTGs will stack eight containers and a truck lane wide and one over six containers high.

All machinery will be automated - with operator intervention only required when operating below a predefined safe height for the STSes, while remote control needed for container pick or place from the truck trailers or exception handling for the RTGs.

Each STS will be connected to its dedicated remote operator station (ROS). Four ROS operators will run the 12 RTGs.

A mesh network will handle data communications in the container yard.
