The company has taken over the Zabaykalsk International Terminal on the Russian-Chinese border, which will be modernised and combined with the company's facility already operating there.
TransContainer will upgrade the Zabaykalsk International Terminal to handle containerised freight, increasing the company's capacity from the current 390k TEUs/year to 500k by 2024.
Meanwhile, TransContainer's existing facility in Zabaykalsk hit a new all-time high by dispatching 1,340 complete block trains loaded with Chinese goods last year, 17% more than in 2020.
Since launching the block train routing programme in 2016, the company has organised 5,000 train sets. TransContainer plans to dispatch ten train pairs a day, forming more than 3,000 block trains in 2024.
