Constructing the dual-fuel (LNG) diesel-electric vessel, designed in co-op with Aker Arctic Technology, will commence this year, with delivery scheduled ahead of the 2025 icebreaking season.
The Arc7 ice-class icebreaker will be built according to the Icebreaker 8 class notation of the Russian Maritime Register to break through 2.0 m thick ice, both ahead and astern.
Securing access to the Port of Dudinka, the ship will operate in the Yenisei River, the Yenisei Bay, and the Kara Sea.
Helsinki Shipyard has recently purchased the main equipment for the icebreaker, plus carried out ice and open water model tests.
Norilsk Nickel's icebreaker will be the largest diesel-electric one put together in Finland.
