Following the company's container terminal launch in the Danish seaport and rise in volume, APM Terminals will lease an additional 150k m2 of storage space.
The new area is located in Ny Vesthavn (New West Harbour) and adds to AMP Terminal's 50k m2 of the existing operating site in the Port of Kalundborg.
The port authority will now reinforce the ground, which is currently covered by gravel and sand hence unfit to store containers. Additionally, reefer plus will be put in place.
The Port of Kalundborg and APM Terminals expect a five-digit number of containers to be stored at Ny Vesthavn. There is also the possibility of keeping them at Østhavnen, where the previous container terminal was situated.
APM Terminals Kalundborg went online in March 2021, taking over Maersk's feeder traffic from the Port of Copenhagen.
