The vehicle carrier, a JV between NYK Line and Wallenius Lines, has launched a weekly connection between the ports of Drammen, Esbjerg, Gothenburg, and Zeebrugge.
The service is operated with Minchah (capacity of 1,220 vehicles), but UECC says she will likely be replaced by one of the company's new dual-fuel (gas), hybrid, pure car & truck carriers currently under construction (each offering 3,600 units of carrying capacity) and due for delivery in 2022.
"UECC is very pleased to launch this new North Sea service, and finally adding Denmark to our pan European short sea shipping network, as well as adding Gothenburg as our third port of call in Sweden in addition to our existing service to Malmö and Wallhamn, enabling us to provide our customers with a wider ranging sustainable product," Glenn Edvardsen, CEO, UECC, commented.
