Cargill has opened a production site in Ghent that converts waste oils and fats into fuel to be used by the transportation sector, including shipping.

The new plant will supply 115kt/year. The facility comes from Cargill's $150m investment in its oilseed crush and biodiesel plant in Ghent.

The feed includes used cooking oils and residues from the production of edible oils - previously discarded or destined for low-value applications only.
