The logistics company, operating in Vlissingen in the North Sea Port, has had KiesZon, part of the Greenchoice Group, install 77,250 solar panels on its warehouse roofs at two locations.
The system can generate 25m kWh/year, equivalent to the needs of some 9,000 households.
The solar farm will help reduce CO2 emissions by 15kt/year.
The investment also saw the network operator Stedin laying new cables from the distribution station in Vlissingen-Oost, which involved deep drilling under the Vlissingen docks.
"We did something that had never been done before - we worked on a large scale with lightweight solar panels, which we glued directly onto the roofs. That additional element makes this already remarkable project all the more special," Erik Snijders, KiesZon's Managing Director, highlighted.
