Hirtshals will be one of the first two places in the country where heavy-duty lorries running on batteries can be recharged.
To that end, E.ON Drive Infrastructure eyes the Hirtshals Transport Center, located next to the Port of Hirtshals, for establishing a facility with three 400kW fast chargers into which six trucks can plug.
It will be possible to upgrade the loading bays to 1.0MW.
With another charging station in Høje Taastrup, the one in the Hirtshals Transport Center should be ready by the end of this year.
"The establishment of charging stations, which are suitable for heavy transport, will undoubtedly create some exciting opportunities for trailer traffic when another propellant becomes available in Hirtshals - not only in the short- but in particular also in the long-term," Per Holm Nørgaard, the Port of Hirtshals' CEO, commented.
