The Danish seaport is setting up buildings for customs, veterinary and food inspection, and for its own use, such as a workshop, depot and welfare.
The brand-new facilities will become part of the port's New West Harbour and sit next to the container terminal.
"The veterinary inspection is an innovation. We don't have it at the moment, but it is necessary if the container terminal is to be able to accept certain types of goods, e.g. foodstuffs, and the Port of Kalundborg will, with this investment, get additional volumes of goods through the container terminal," Jesper Wienmann Hansen, Board Chair of the Port of Kalundborg, underscored.
The facilities will be ready by this summer.
