The DORACO construction corporation has begun overhauling 800 m of the Helskie I and Oliwskie quays in the Port of Gdynia, a project that will continue for 26 months.
The works will deconstruct the areas in question, including surfaces and above- and underground infrastructures, before laying them anew (with associated installations, such as sanitation, electrical, and teletechnical facilities).
The Helskie Quay is where the BCT Baltic Container Terminal Gdynia operates.
"It will undoubtedly be a challenging project engineering-wise. It will also require excellent work organization. While the reconstructed section won't see any container handling operations, other parts of the terminal will work as usual," Radosław Jarosiewicz, VP of DORACO, commented.
Jacek Sadaj, the Port of Gdynia's CEO, added, "Thanks to significant investments and modern solutions, we're ready to face any future challenge, providing our business partners with optimal cooperation conditions. All investments are carried out while keeping the cargo turnover. The Port of Gdynia plans and executes crucial investments in a manner that doesn't disturb freight handling, remembering that it has a colossal impact on the development of economic cooperation and Poland and Central Europe's security."
