China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Weihai) has entrusted the Finnish company with the complete basic and detailed design for the first E-Flexer ferry to sail in the Med.
Deltamarin Finland will carry out the designing process this year, with Stena RoRo chartering the ferry (with a purchase option) to the French Corsica Linea in Q1 2026.
The newbuild will serve the Marseille-Corsica crossing, offering room for 1,000 passengers and 2,500 lane metres for wheeled cargo.
"The design is based on Stena-RoRo's proven E-Flexer concept, where each of the vessels is technically and commercially adapted to customer needs," Deltamarin highlighted in a press release.
The 13th E-Flexer will feature an optimised hull, propellers, and rudders design. The ferry will have dual-fuel (liquefied natural gas, LNG) engines capable of running on bioLNG and e-fuels. The vessel will also be primed to utilise batteries for future propulsion (holding the 'battery power' class notation).
