Once delivered in H2 2026, the two 15,000t-deadweight, 147 by 22 metres, Ice Class 1A, 17.5 thousand cubic metres of carrying capacity tankers will transport renewable fuels and feedstock for the Swedish petroleum and bio-fuel company.
The sister ships will be methanol-ready as well as equipped with batteries and connectors for drawing power from the shore.
The Energy Efficiency Design Index score of the new tankers will be 5.50 against the requirement of 8.94, says Sirius Shipping.
"We look forward to taking delivery of the two sister ships, a further result of our long collaboration with Sirius Shipping. Preem has high ambitions to reduce its environmental impact and these two vessels will play an important role in our challenge to reach climate neutrality by 2035. By investing in new and modern tankers, Preem shows its commitment to sustainability and safety in shipping. At the same time, we support our customers in reaching their challenging goals," Daniel Berndolf, Head of Preem's Shipping Department, commented.
Jonas Backman, CEO at Sirius Shipping, added, "These efficient Sirius Evolution 15K vessels in Preem's transport system will make a difference for both the environment and operating economics."
